The St. Bernard Academy building, now known as The Offices at Convent Place, has a rich history that dates back to the 1800s. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, the boarding school and convent had many successful years of schooling, and the need for a new location was clear. The building on this nine-acre tract of land on Hillsboro Road opened in 1905. It boasted modern amenities such as steam heat, electric lights and telephones. The addition of a chapel in 1924 included stained glass windows, ornate Carrera marble altarpieces and traditional oak pews.

By the 1980s, school registration was dwindling, and the high school closed its doors in 1989. After the relocation of the Sisters of Mercy, the building fell victim to the elements, and local businessman Charles Jones eventually purchased it. In 2001, The Village Chapel discovered the facility, leased individual spaces throughout and purchased the property in 2015.

Today, The Offices at Convent Place is a thriving home for The Village Chapel and our unique tenants, some of whom once attended school here. As the building continues to undergo renovations, the floors still creak much like they did decades ago when students and nuns roamed the halls. Although there are no official ties to the Sisters of Mercy today, The Village Chapel aims to uphold the ideals of mercy and Christian service that led to the establishment of the St. Bernard Academy over a century ago.

Our Staff

Morgan Castillo

Client Services Manager

I’m Morgan Marlin Castillo, your Client Services Manager at Convent Place. I hail from Nashville, TN, though I am not an official unicorn. I attended MTSU for Television Production, Theatre and Film. I have worked in residential lighting design, photography, event planning, and home organization, to name a few things. Along with being your Client Services Manager, I help The Village Chapel (the church within our building) organize their childcare for events. I am drawn to and enjoy detail work and problem-solving. Whether it’s helping someone reorganize a pantry, wrangling a classroom of toddlers, or working with tenants in Convent Place, I strive for results and resolutions in a positive and harmonious way. During my free time, you can find me hiking and camping with my family, gardening, watching movies, traveling, and exploring Nashville’s ever-changing neighborhoods. I look forward to working with and serving you in this amazing building!

Chris Parker

General Manager

I’m Chris Parker, the General Manager for Convent Place. I was born in Boston, MA, but have lived in Miami, NY, and Chicago, with few other stops along the way. I originally came to Nashville 27 years ago. I started and ran a record label and entertainment company until 2002, when I became a custom home builder. I built over 30 homes in the Middle Tennessee area until 2010 when I was hired as the Senior Director of Operations & Administration at The Village Chapel. I now split my time between overseeing the operations of the church and Convent Place. My hobbies include photography, music, hiking – especially if waterfalls are involved, travel, DIY projects, and enjoying all kinds of delicious cuisine! I’m grateful for the excellent tenants we are honored to have in our building and look forward to providing the highest level of service, as well as continually improving the quality of our facility.

Jeremy Martin

Facilities Director

I’m Jeremy Martin, your facilities and maintenance director for TVC and Convent Place. I hail from Southern Illinois and have been in Nashville for seven years. My primary responsibility as the Facilities Director is to steward our wonderful historic building well. Whether coordinating cleaning and maintenance, working with contractors, or setting up for events and worship services, my team and I love serving our congregation and tenants. When I’m not working around the building, you can find me traveling; I love the beach, working on DIY projects, or playing a round of golf.

Nancy Bresson

Finance Manager

My name is Nancy Bresson. I’m the Finance Manager for Convent Place and The Village Chapel. I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio with a degree in Accounting. I have worked in property management and non-profit accounting for over ten years before moving to Nashville. In my free time, I love being on the water and snuggling with my grandchildren.
